Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her debut EP Pho, released on October 21 2016, was released through Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her music online in 2014 and released her own single Bound. On July 21 2015 she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. In the following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. She was officially signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat is a song that she recorded with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening performance. She also appeared in 2018 on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November she dropped two more singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled The No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It then came out as a stand-alone single in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order in conjunction with the song. Within the first time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. The singer was a part of the 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour at the end of December 2018.
